Saleres, El Valle de Lecrin

Saleres is considered one of the most authentic of the whitewashed hillside pueblos in the Valle de Lecrin. Its layout has not changed since it was last occupied by the Moors at the end of the15th century

There is a remarkable sense of peacefulness and tranquility here, as if time has stood still. No noise from traffic or aircraft, just birdsong only occasionally punctured by religious fiestas with music and fireworks

It is a wonderful village to stroll around, or from which to venture through the surrounding groves of citrus, almond and olives or along the footpath by the river. Andalucia's 1,250 kilometre GR7 footpath passes directly through Saleres - it offers spectacular views

Casa del Mulo and El Mulito

Casa del Mulo is a delightful, traditional, Andalusian whitewashed townhouse located close to top of the village with views of the often-snow capped Sierra Nevada as a wonderful backdrop

There is a pretty patio at ground level and two roof terraces (one is covered for dining) both with inspiring views

The main house has a comfortable open plan lounge and dining room with views across the village and mountains. There are two comfortable guest rooms, one is a single with ensuite bathroom, the other a double with shared bathroom.

El Mulito is an adjoining casita with a guest bedroom and bathroom. It also contains the dedicated micro-bakery where most of the tuition takes place on our courses. It is an extension of the main house with separate access to the street

There are plenty of private and secluded places, including the terraces and patios , where you can relax, read or work if necessary. There is excellent wifi throughout the property

Getting Here

Coming by car?

We are situated 12 - 15 minutes from the A44 motorway, midway between Granada and Motril. Take exit 160 signposted El Valle and follow the road signs to Restabal. Just before entering Restabal you will see a sharp right turn for Saleres. On entering Saleres, take the first right turn uphill, park by the church, call us and we will meet and greet you

Arriving by air?

Most international flights land at either Madrid or Malaga. From Madrid, take a flight to Granada (by road takes 4 - 5 hours)

We always recommend taking a rental car on arrival if you intend sightseeing. The journey time from Malaga airport to Saleres is an easy 90 minutes, and from Granada airport 45 minutes

If no car, we recommend taking the autobus from Malaga or Granada airport terminals to Granada bus station. Prices are very reasonable and comfort is good see www.alsa.com. We will meet students for the standard three day course at the bus station for a free transfer to Saleres and return
