"If we had to visit a single city in Spain, that should be Granada." Ernest Hemingway.

Granada is one of the jewels of Spain and one of the most visited places by tourists from all over the world. Once the capital of Al Andalus, or Moorish Andalusia, it offers the world-famous Alhambra at the top of the list.
Walk through dreamy gardens, charming alleys full of flowers or sit in one of those typical taverns to taste the famous Trévelez ham with wine from the region. Maybe go up to the Mirador San Nicolas for the best views of the Alhambra, and the Sacromonte where you can enjoy authentic gypsy flamenco shows in the caves. Always with the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Sierra Nevada, the second highest mountain range in western Europe

Our location - Calle Alcazaba 6, Pinos Puente, Granada, 18240

Please note in the summer of 2023 we relocated from the Lecrin Valley to the small town of Pinos Puente 20 km from central Granada. Google Maps still thinks Lara´s Loaf is located in Saleres and that we are permanently closed. We need to fix this, but it is taking time!

Pinos Puente is a small town sitting at the foot of the Sierra Elvira mountain range. Here is the bridge (puente) where the emissaries of Queen Isabella persuaded Christopher Columbus to abandon his journey to the King of France seeking finance for his New World expedition. The Queen´s intervention changed Spanish, indeed world, history!

We have a large supermarket nearby and lots of typical Spanish shops, bars and good facilities, mostly within easy walking distance

There are hiking trails on the nearby mountain, which is thermally active and has splendid views of Granada´s Vega  plain and the Sierra Nevada mountains

There is plenty of easy parking outside the villa, and a drive into Central Granada takes only 15 minutes (mostly on the GR43 motorway with little traffic)

Taxis to and from Granada typically charge 20-40 euros. A morning or afternoon trip to the Albaycin (old Arab quarter) is feasible during our course, but sadly not a visit to the Alhambra palace and gardens. That really needs a full day!

Both the Sierra Nevada ski centre and the unspoilt beaches of the Costa Tropical are around a one hour drive from us. For many months of the year it´s possible to ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon!

Malaga is a one hour thirty minute car journey, Cordoba takes two hours
